“Uniting evidence-based dentistry and the wisdom of nature”
– Dr. Mona Board
Dr Mona qualified as a Dentist from King’s College, London in 2002. She started her career as most dentists- working in general practice, treating patients with a wide variety of dental ailments. She soon started to feel that there was possibly more to dentistry than just the mouth and it’s surrounding structures. She was interested in her patients’ lives, habits, diet and lifestyles, their overall general health seemed to have a link to their dental health.
Dr Mona started to look into ways to perform dentistry, while respecting the mouth-body connection and treating the patient as a whole.
She studied nutritional and environmental medicine in Australia with ACNEM in 2011.
She then brought her new knowledge into her work and life- choosing natural, non-toxic, non-invasive options wherever possible.
Dr. Mona is SMART certified by the IAOMT. This certification allows her to remove mercury amalgam from patients’ teeth using the strictest and safest protocol today.
Dr Mona has three children and so appreciates parents’ need to find a dentist who will look after their children using the most biological treatment options.
Dr Mona’s holistic approach starts with a consultation to discuss the patient’s issues and worries. She then asks some questions regarding medical and dental history, lifestyle and diet. Then there is an examination of the head and neck structures related to the mouth.
The next step is “special tests”, such as low-radiation digital x-rays, vitality testing and other diagnostic tools.
Once Dr Mona has collected the information from the questions, examination and special tests she can present the diagnosis to the patient, then create a treatment plan tailored to the patient’s needs and lifestyle.
If requested, Dr Mona can also refer patients to other holistic practitioners, in order to maximise their well-being.
Dr Mona speaks English, French and Arabic. In her spare time she enjoys creating sculptures, she also loves to learn languages ( she is currently learning Japanese) and she practices yoga, pilates and ballet.
Dr Mona practices at Smile Makers by Nuffield Dental Novena and The Dental Implant Centre, One Raffles Place (mall).
